Garden RELEAF weekend, which will be held on the weekend of March 7-8 2015, will see Independent Garden Centres around Australia running fun and informative events to encourage people to get into the garden and get planting. As gardening is good for both physical and mental health, the weekend will support beyond blue and will be themed around ‘Something Blue’.
All four Dawson’s stores will be participating in the Garden RELEAF weekend. Please see below for events and activities happening at each store.
Kids Gardening Sessions (ALL STORES)
Saturday March 7th: 10.30am – 11.30am and Sunday March 8th: 10.30am – 11.30am
We will be running Mini Gardener sessions, encouraging kids to get planting by helping them plant their own flower or vegetable seedlings which they can then take home to grow. The only cost will be a gold coin donation to beyondblue.

Saturday 10.30 – 11.30: Staff member Garion will be talking on the health benefits of gardening and the use of blue flowering plants along with information on organic gardening, with Q&A.
Sunday 10.30 – 11.30: Staff member Jan will present on the health benefits of getting out in the garden, plants that make you feel good and general gardening issues.
Sunday 1.00 – 2.00: Debra Pearson, from sustainable life style garden, will explain the benefits of DSATCO lupin mulch in the garden as well as taking about edible gardens, frogscaping, and poultry in the backyard. Debra will even have some wee bantams with her so why not bring the kiddies along to see them clucking around.
Saturday 11.00 – 12.00: Staff member Jane will demonstrate how to make a fairy garden from broken pots.
Sunday 11.00 – 12.00: Staff member Dan will host a talk on Kool Coastal Natives
Sunday from 11.00: Plant Doctor Gia will be on hand to answer any queries regarding your garden.
Saturday 11.30 – 12.30: Staff member Amanda will talk about blue flowing plants for your garden and the overall benefits of getting out and about in your garden.
